Logic X’s Flex Pitch is a fantastic asset to us all, and it’s free of course. But Auto Tune Pro does things that not only does Flex pitch not do. Logic Pro X has more tools for pitching and tuning audio than you may have realised, and it works just as flexibly as editing MIDI pitch does. Use the Tuner utility · In Logic Pro, click the Tuner icon on the control bar. · Play a single note on the instrument and watch the Graphic Tuning and Keynote.

Keynote display: Shows the target pitch of the note being played the closest tuned pitch. Note: You can also set a size by dragging the lower corners of the plug-in window.

Play a single note on the instrument and watch the Graphic Tuning and Keynote displays. If the note is flat or sharp of the keynote, orange segments are shown in the Graphic Tuning display, the Keynote is shown in orange, and the Tune Deviation display indicates how far in cents the note is off pitch. Adjust the tuning of your instrument until the indicator is centered in the Graphic Tuning display and the Tune Deviation field shows zero 0 cents.

If it sounds happy, then it is most likely in the major scale. No worries! From here, we can manipulate each and every note so that we can fine-tune them to the correct pitches. To do this, first, listen to your vocal track and point out which notes need some fine-tuning.

Click on the highlighted note and drag it either up or down to the pitch you think sounds good corresponding to the key of your song. Logic Pro X makes it incredibly easy to implement AutoTune into your vocal tracks. Although the stock AutoTune plugin for Logic Pro X is super solid and widely used, you may want to check out some of these other AutoTune plugins :.

Be sure to ask us any questions you may have about this tutorial and we will do our best to help! Do you mean that it doesn’t display anything, or that it jumps around all over the place and is unreadable? If it’s the latter, then that just sounds like the normal Tuner behaviour – it’s not a very good tuner at all IMO. I have a Korg rack tuner plugged into my rig – and I just route anything I want to tune out to it.

What kind of audio file are you trying to analyse? If it’s at all polyphonic a strummed guitar part, for example then any tuner isn’t going to help at all.. But just a heads up that I found the tuner to be very unreliable and difficult for tuning string and 6-string guitar. Bought a Peterson.

I just mean that if i insert a Tuner on an Audio track it does not work, it won’t give me a key of the audio file when the track is playing of course. But if i put it on an instrument track and hit a note on my midi controller it works fine.

What do you mean by “it does not work”? No display it just says “-” in the middle or it doesn’t give you a reliable reading? Like I said before, if it’s anything with chords in, you’re better off listening to it and figuring it out on an instrument Yes, the tuner also works on audio tracks, or, to be more correct, on audio inputs , since a tuner is used before recording, and rarely on recorded material.

Mainly because it is generally considered not smart to tune a guitar after the recording. And I’m not even a guitar player. That’s right, the tuner cannot detect the “key” of an audio file; mainly because no such thing exists.

Audio files do not have “keys”. Pieces of music can have keys, audio files can’t. Samples in sampled instruments can have pitch information, but that’s not the same as ‘key’. There are actually a couple of different tools in Logic Pro that you can use for vocal pitch correction, depending on your desired outcome.

On the desired audio track, head over to the left hand side and click on a free Audio FX slot. Rather well in fact. As a general rule, select Normal for female vocals and Low for male vocals. Step 4: Now play the track back, and use the Response and Detune sliders to achieve the perfect auto tune effect. Response is a time based control, the lower the time, the faster the plug-in will react to incorrect pitches, and therefore the more noticeable the effect will be. Too fast, and the effect will be a robotic vocal sound.

Detune should be adjusted if the track is consistently below or above the the centre of the bottom display. Again, adjust til you find the sweet spot.
