Please try again later. Verified Purchase. I initially picked this up to do some file transfers while getting networking set up on a new custom built desktop computer. Worked fine for my needs. Later when I tried to use it for audio with bluetooth heaphones and earbuds I ran into problems with connectivity, sound quality, etc. And after some experimentation and finding the issue persisted in both Win10 and Manjaro Linux with a few different sets of headphones and earbuds, concluded it was a flaw in the bluetooth adapter.
After posting my experience here I was promptly contacted by Plugable, who had obviously paid attention to the details of my write-up and pointed out that desktop components without integrated bluetooth don’t often bother with shielding to prevent interference.
They suggested moving the adapter away from other components, and quickly sent me a M-F USB cable to do so. I previously had the adapter plugged directly into the rear ports of the motherboard, and sure enough, as soon as I plugged it into the USB cable and moved it a few feet away, my connectivity and sound quality problems disappeared. No more pops, clicks, poor quality, or troubles pairing or keeping devices connected. I’ve tested it again in both Win10 and Manjaro Linux, and it works well in both and is fast to find and pair with my devices.
So, keep that in mind if you are using this adapter with a desktop system. If you’re having some issues, it may be interference and just need some distance between the adapter and the motherboard. I got this to pair with my PS4 controller and am pleased with the results as I am now able to use my controller wireless on the desktop and charge it by just plugging into the USB cable that came with my controller in my desktop and keep on playing wired until I am ready to go wireless again.
I had to turn off Bluetooth temporarily and restart Input Mapper to allow for charging and a wired connection until battery was full.
To get it back into Bluetooth mode just turn it back on and restart input mapper then push the PS button on the controller to get it detected again by Input Mapper. I use Input Mapper version 1. Make sure Bluetooth drivers are installed first I had to check windows update for mine after plugging this in. I have found that only one controller may be connected to this adapter at a time but that can be possibly remedied by buying another adapter I have not yet tested this though.
Below I shall provide the steps needed to pair your PS4 Controllers. The controller will turn off. Next, put the controller into pairing mode. The light bar on the controller will start flashing. This indicates the controller is in Bluetooth pairing mode. Update2: 5 stars restored. This adapter wasn’t responsible for my sound quality issues – windows was. There’s a retarded default configuration in windows that activates using headphones as a telephone which drops sound quality and different programs use different codecs for the same files, and this adapter handles signal transmission no problem.
Andy from plugable customer service was very helpful and helped me solve bluetooth issues that frankly were not even the device’s fault. If I play with vlc EQ settings I can recreate the full sound depth of audio files as on any other device, just default profile isn’t configured right for my wireless headphones.
That is entirely to do with the software I’m running and not this hardware which does exactly what it is advertised to. For higher quality bluetooth audio sound profile to be able to be active in windows, disable using the audio destination as a microphone in “recording devices” and disable telephony service in the audio device’s properties via “devices and printers.
Update1: Customer service is super responsive and helped me get multiple devices working simultaneously with this adapter! Apparently windows glitchy default driver setup for Bluetooth isn’t as good as this company’s proprietary driver, provided for free. The remaining stars shall be restored once I get a satisfactory solution for why sound quality on my wireless headphones is better via my iphone than it is via my desktop using this adapter Initial review: Cannot connect more than 1 bluetooth device at a time.
Has some kind of software glitch with windows 10 where a device I had connected for the last month suddenly can’t connect at all any more, namely an ergonomic keyboard, so I have to revert to a USB-based one. Very annoying that I got to this point because I had to choose between wireless music and being able to type on a more ergonomic keyboard. Customer service contact info is currently: support plugable. See all reviews. Top reviews from other countries.
Quite a few folk are reporting that it doesn’t work reliably. Switched it to a USB 2 port and it works perfectly on Windows I’d suggest anyone with issues check out the compatibility advice on the pluggable website.
Also, the adapter itself is a USB 2. Meanwhile, there is a critical flaw in the design of USB 3. Many USB 3. However, a USB 2. This tiny little bluetooth USB has allowed me to connect a whole range of devices to my computer with no issue, really happy. I purchased this adapter without any knowledge of Bluetooth or how to use it. The adapter installed easily enough but I had a few problems with connecting speakers, mobile phone, etc. I knew this was largely or completely down to my own lack of knowledge and understanding but I contacted the support desk, not expecting much, specially as I knew it was situated in Seattle, but thinking they might be able to give me some pointers.
I was bowled over by the quality of the response I received. The person I dealt with understood everything I needed to know and gave me clear and accurate instructions, along with links where necessary. I was able to send screenshots when I came across impenetrable messages and these enabled my helper to explain what was going on and progress with solving my problem. He stuck with me for as long as it took, and went several extra miles for me without prompting.
Without this help I might never have achieved the understanding that I now have of Bluetooth and this adapter. I cannot praise the assistance I received highly enough. This is a company with a truly excellent ethic and one that I would deal with happily again and again.
Their tech support would rate ten stars! I bought this and it didn’t work so I contacted the makers, Plugable, who walked me through the installation procedure step by step via email. Still not working So Plugable sent me a replacement from the United States and So a faulty unit, but that happens. What doesn’t happen nearly often enough is rapid, courteous and generous customer service. For that reason, a five-star review. Bought to replace a previous piece of junk that never seemed easy to use.
This one was unpacked, and paired up within 30 seconds. I was having major problems trying to pair up some cheaper bluetooth earbuds that I bought to use with my mobile phone. After wasting several hours uninstalling and reinstalling, I decided to ditch it and buy a new dongle and this time I spent a bit more. After inserting this one into a usb port on my PC, Windows did “its thing”, and told me that it had been installed using win I opened it up from my system tray old one never seemed to appear in there , turned it on and told my PC to look for any “new devices”.
Removed my Enacfire E19’s from their case, and the PC saw it within about 3 seconds. Clicked “pair” and BOOM!!
All set up and working wonderfully. Exactly the same occurred with my mobile phone.
