Alexander Batista,. This can be beneficial to other community members reading this thread. No exceptions. Discontinued features and modified functionality in Access Identifying the source of the problem is unlikely, and truly not worth your time. I’ve done development where I only changed code and rendered database incompatible which is pure nonsense and obviously Access made other changes in the background.

So the golden rule remains, you always do all your development on the oldest version that will be used to run the database, so in your case, Now to try and solve your immediate issue, create a new blank database using Access and then try importing everything and see if you are lucky enough that everything works. Also, since you are a novice, below are a few links that might be informative to you if you have some time. But you’re not talking about backwards compatibility, but rather forward compatibility to which no software is capable of.

Access has exceptional backwards compatibility. An old version, of any software, has no means to be able to work with future versions, the inverse, well that is up to the software company whether or not to continue to support old versions. My work uses Microsoft access Worst part is, I can’t figure out what part of my database is not compatible, I can’t even attempt to save as a lower version because it doesn’t tell me what part of the database is unable to be transferred.

Friday, June 30, AM. Alexander Batista, I try to open and check your database in Access and Access I can see that you have about 10 forms. Wednesday, July 5, AM. Software is rarely forward compatible, and Access is no exception. Microsoft Access MVP. Hi, If you can’t downgrade the file to a lower version, you may have to go back to your latest backup and try to add the new features using Access only. If you don’t have a backup, you might find someone who owns both versions to maybe help you export each object one at a time until the problem repeats, so you’ll know which part is causing the problem.

Just a thought Alexander Batista, can you tell us what kind of modification you had done? Monday, July 3, AM. Yes, I understand this now as the “golden rule” as it was already explained to me on a post above. I’m obviously a novice and all of the programing I’ve done has been self taught through literature, videos, and this forum.

In my mind it seemed ludacris to me that a programming software would corrupt data through backwards compatibility. Had I known I would run into this issue I would of never purchased office and paid subscription, instead just do a 1 time purchase of As for your recommendation of importing, been there done that. The software is completely blocked off, when I try importing to an older version it gives me the compatibility error when using the version.

I have tried to save as a lower version using my officer at home, but it only allows me to save in version and even more features are locked at that point and renders practically half of my database useless. I think at this point you have 2 options: Restore a backup, assuming you have one Perform a Save As mdb and then upgrade it to a accdb and then add back any lost features.

Sadly, I don’t see any other options currently. Wednesday, July 5, PM. Here a link to what I was able to recover in an accdb database. Just one point of precision. What I will agree with however is: Why MS does not display a prompt notifying users that by opening their db in a new version its file format will be irreparably modified and thus made incompatible with prior versions Since they have a Save As , why not have a simpler ?

A way to revert back without having to completely abandon the accdb file format. Thursday, July 6, PM. Community Resources. Follow Us. Terms of Use Trademarks Privacy Statement.
