Nikon ViewNX-i version 1. Adobe Camera Raw version The main differences. ViewNX-i’s default noise reduction can lead to slightly plasticky-looking skin. Pros Cons Available free with your camera Excellent support for Nikon’s cameras from launch day Realistic color with minimal effort Impressive shadow recovery from D-Lighting HS Decent performance, albeit still not as good as ACR Only supports Nikon cameras Lacks many controls offered by ACR and other rivals Selection of controls doesn’t make sense for less-experienced shooters No one-click auto control Can’t use distortion correction if it wasn’t enabled at capture time Denoising robs fine detail and can’t be disabled Interactions between controls can prove challenging.

Fred Mueller photomy About PS CC Writern Thanks for the review. Bumblebees Big Sur and also M1 is a big crash in general. Hasa Adobe has plenty of tutorials plus there are extremely competent bloggers like “Piximperfect” with great tutorials as well. Hasa Thank you for explaining what depth is. Hasa fferreres: test!

Hasa This statement is useless to the ones that seek pros and cons of the sw: “I’d wager that most NX-i users won’t have the first clue what “axial color aberration” means” Karl Huber Not at all keen on anything from Adobe since their user information database has been hacked – at least two times.

Zenodroid Did you seriously comment this, from your Apple product? Zenodroid Adobe beats everyone else. Because Adobe doesn’t care what kind of unit you are using! Bumblebees Me too. MrBrightSide Fantastic article. Bobthearch For jpeg shooters, the ability to load custom presets into the camera is a powerful feature, one that Adobe cannot touch. Hasa Thank you for your trouble and Nikon is pretty much out of the picture with a non-flexible noise reduction routine, because FujifilmXT3 Capture One.

Magnar W I find “Less pleasing color than Nikon’s software by default” and “Leaves significantly more noise in images by default” as cons for ACR just weird, since raw converters are about profiles. Fred Mueller See my comment above. AKH You don’t go through any purchasing interface to get the Nikon software. Hasa Nikon has indeed been removed from Capture One Express. Hasa Ha! Hasa “Their website”??? Nikon, please make it work! Jose Move files from Capture to View, and then to Photos.

Works on my Mac. Flowchart I think you’d have to resort to editing the exif to make that one work tricking the software to think you have nikon files. Flowchart Brownie: Gotcha! My bad. Jose Move files from Capture to View, then import into Photos. Moudluc2 Thanks. Spectro to highlight the main difference why Nikon has 2 free software is for ViewNX-i the original when you edit your raw it is saved backed to the raw file which only the program can see.

Urbex Mark???? ViewNX-i uses a sidecar format too. At least, the current version does. Spectro What, ok thanks for the update. Reilly Diefenbach “A particularly surprising omission in an app aimed at less-experienced users is the lack of a one-click auto control to help get everything in the ballpark.

UncoyDP Returning to automated settings, DxO Photolab will adjust all of the above on opening any image if that’s the preset you choose.

Reilly Diefenbach “the Nikon softwares produce more accurate colour than Adobe. Reilly Diefenbach Lightroom’s Camera Standard is one of the best raw conversions available without any need for neurotic color twiddling. BackToNature1 No having trouble, just hate the Adobe styled interfaces.

String “”then, the camera? String “”An that would be the overstatement of the year. Fred Mueller Agree JustSomeone What specialized program is this if you don’t mind me asking? UncoyDP Your program fotoarray looks interesting Julian. Julianswz Thank You. The program came out about 2 month ago – Independent reviews have yet to come. Please let me know if you have any questions or complaints: Regards, Julian. Julianswz The radial filter is my favorite feature of LightRoom – It is a quick possibility to enhance exposure or apply a vignette.

Kuvasauna I agree. I still use it almost daily. The UI is compatible with my logic. Reilly Diefenbach I would rather have my teeth drilled without benefit of novocaine than process raws in any Nikon software.

AKH One of the nice things about NX-D is the color control points, for adjusting hue, saturation, brightness, contrast etc.
