Thanks GLR, one thing I’ve learned about Windows 10 while troubleshooting a lot of different games, STO included, is that Windows 7 x64 basically gets turned into Windows 10 in respect to a lot of the underlying code that gets changed through Microsoft’s updates.<\/p>\n

SYS that was removed around early due to a security vulnerability that as a “throw the baby out with the bathwater” type of remedy instead of actually shielding or protecting the function of CDROM. Another example is Windows Creator’s Update with releases starting around April of this year , then July of this year, and September of this year.<\/p>\n

The above being said, I’m not surprised to hear similar problems are occurring on Windows 7, and based on your reply, I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if you were one of those responsible computer users like myself that makes sure you keep things updated. Unfortunately, when it comes to Microsoft, those of us that responsibly administer our systems appear doomed to pay penance for it in lieu of these issues cropping up.<\/p>\n

I’m trying a complete re-install, and while I hate having to deal with a 22GB download during the holiday events as I’m sure others do as well, it seems the only solution likely to work because it should clear out any corruption from extraneous files for STO due to all the big updates within the past year; especially starting in the fall of when the lighting updates came through.<\/p>\n

When those effects are working as intended, I’ll admit, they’re a wonderful touch for STO; however a lot of the older levels seem to lose quality because of them since the textures weren’t intended to work in an LOD graphics environment.<\/p>\n

It’s sometimes best to just put the information out there, and if there’s a question, just let word of mouth pan out from those that may have already dealt with a similar issue.<\/p>\n

Basically though, it appears we’re all in agreement about having observed the crossover of the various “Launchers” pushing specific bit or bit launchers. Also agreed, yes, Google is terrible these days because Google’s biggest benefit used to be that it worked well with Boolean searches i.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately we all don’t speak a common language globally, and with communication being a tool that varies significantly throughout regions across the globe on a platform like a search engine on the internet that are intended to have global reach, such compatibility has naturally gone by the wayside because not all spoken and written languages will be compatible with the same or even similar Boolean structure search algorhythms across different languages.<\/p>\n

As I said before, I’ll keep people posted after the re-install, but if you want to at least understand the experience level I’m at, pass the word because you covered a lot of ground that I’d already covered it as well, just with a different word choice.<\/p>\n

Glad there’s someone out there like you though who’s seen some of the same issues with some of the other games. I prefer to steer clear of WOW for fear of getting too into it. A few of my friends and I lost a member of our circle to WOW, and we hope for her return to the fray soon. She’s missed. Glad you’re in a household where you’ve multiple systems and OS’es to try things on. Perhaps you should start a game lab and blog. Steam actually does something really great that I didn’t notice since I was initially an Arc user, it makes a GameClient.<\/p>\n

If the GameClient. This is a very serious problem that essentially renders Star Trek Online unusable. At this point, I’m finalizing the download of the Arc version that has a ways to go; however having used that version so long, it wasn’t difficult to notice the differences; although the Arc version is strictly bit, and there was some slight noticeable performance and even some visual difference on the STO in-game launch screen using the bit GameClient.<\/p>\n

Feedback and suggestions are now most welcome to force Steam to use the GameClient. Thank you in advance to the community for further suggestions and recommendations.<\/p>\n

Happy Holidays. I’ll keep the community posted on any further advancements on these issues. I’ve got news for you, I found a workaround using the available bit Dll and the GameClient. I cannot guaranteee it will work for everyone since my hardware and software are Enterprise and not consumer, but basically here’s what I did: 1 – Moved GameClient. The above steps were taken after a fresh re-install, the problem is now solved with this workaround,and the program has been fooled into running in bit for the time being.<\/p>\n

I think it’d be up to Cryptic to make the Steam version of STO to work with bit architecture and change that within Steam. Being said, I’d be suprised if they ever bothered. The portion of whether or not they work together is up to them, but nonetheless these issues need to be solved by the client Devs. Yes, and so does Arc also work as a distribution platform. Irrelevant of the fact that the independent launcher works on my Win10 laptop, and I haven’t heard this being called a major bug, so I heavily doubt anything will come of your tickets.<\/p>\n
