Air Force. New Mexico. San Diego State. Fresno State. Ohio State. Penn State. Fans in attendance have reportedly been told to leave the stadium. While nothing has been made official, this could mean that the game is going to be called off. Update: Turns out, while there’s confusion, game is still on. At sometime. But recall, we waited 2 hours 55 minutes in Ames just three years ago. For any Hawkeyes or Wolf Pack fans who were wondering what it would take for the game to be called, the tweet above provides clarification.<\/p>\n

After another lightning strike during Nevada’s drive, the game will enter another lighting delay. As teams make their way back onto the field, a minute clock has been implemented to give the players time to get back warmed up. After over an hour-long delay, fans are slowly making their way back to their seats. This is a nice sign, but teams have yet to take the field again. How bad is it in Iowa City right now? Fans evacuate Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City as a bolt of lightning flashes overhead after the Iowa vs. Nevada game was suspended due to weather. Just as it seemed that the game would return to action, another lightning strike has stopped the clock in the stadium and prompted an extension to what had already been a nearly minute extension. Per a clock winding down in the stadium, the game is expected to resume at assuming there is no more lightning.<\/p>\n

While we have nearly reached the minute mark of the weather delay, fans and media alike can find the humor in the situation. Lightning delay at p. NCAA rules mandate play be stopped for at least 30 minutes every time lightning is detected within eight miles of the host venue.<\/p>\n

Each additional strike resets the minute delay clock. Every time the Hawkeyes took the field at Kinnick Stadium, they did so in typical swarm fashion, locked hand-in-hand across five single-file lines. Iowa fought through the rain for almost all of its matchup with Nevada.<\/p>\n

The only time the Hawkeyes were on the field and not getting rained on was when they took the field after the third and final delay. But we all had to stay focused, stay locked in, finish the job that we started.<\/p>\n

The Hawkeyes scored 17 of their 27 points in the first half \u2014 before there was any lightning near Kinnick. In two quarters of action Saturday, Iowa scored more points than it did in its first two games combined. The Hawkeyes gained total yards \u2014 through the air and on the ground. Petras hit sophomore receiver Arland Bruce for a yard touchdown in the north end zone at Kinnick.<\/p>\n
