Does anyone know if FileMaker 14 will work under Mojave? Well, it may work, but FMI recommends to wait for an update. I cannot believe this! Seems like one of the Cocoa framework methods crashes due to a change in MacOS Anyone interested in a copy of the plugin can email me. The timing of the Mojave release is a bit unfortunate in that Filemaker just ended their upgrade pricing for Filemaker 17 from Filemaker 14 last week on September 21, If I pick up a copy of the upgrade from a different retailer, will it still work on FIlemaker 14?

If some retailer gives you upgrade price, that would be great. It crashes directly after opening. Absolutely not pleased that Filemaker ended the upgrade from FM 14 just a week before before Mojave came out. I agree Filemakers upgrade policy is terrible. With new releases every year, you are forced to upgrade at least every two years. Strangely enough the copy I have of Filemaker 11 still does work with Mojave, with some small issues.

Unfortunately this is the old Filemaker fp7 format…. I have been using FM for 20 years or more. I expected a little more loyalty from the company. Yes, I know that the product has changed hands back and forth a few times over the years, is filemaker pro 14 compatible with high sierra free they should be aware of who has been a client for how long. Funny thing is, we want to upgrade, we want to spend our money with them, but they are just making it hard for the single users and sole proprietors.

This is sleazy, very sleazy. I found the issue with FM14 in Mojave after I too hastily updated. Fortunately I had created a clone that I was able моему windows 10 clean install usb iso free download правы restore from. As much as I would love to move up to Mojave the collateral cost of upgrading from FM14 is more than I can justify.

Conversely the time needed to create the same solution in a different application or service is equally too great. I too found that updating caused V14 to crash. Fortunately I have a time machine back for the machine that updated and I am now trying to restore back so that I can work. I have a 2nd machine that is working and not updated.

What a mess. As far as I is filemaker pro 14 compatible with high sierra free there are 3 or 4 things that changed in MacOS including some reference counting of is filemaker pro 14 compatible with high sierra free. So even if we is filemaker pro 14 compatible with high sierra free around one crash, it may crash on something else. I recently got a note for example about a crash with is filemaker pro 14 compatible with high sierra free dialog opening when a database is referenced and not found.

The best is to move to FileMaker Take the two for one promotion This is how Filemaker loses its loyal market to newcomers like Airtable. Very poor show Filemake, feels like being scammed.

I also just found out ver 14 will not work with Mojave. Called for upgrade but quoted full price only. Guess I will have to find new software to support my limited usage of Filemaker. There is one more day for the special 2 for 1 deal going on with FileMaker Advanced. At least in my case, this is an on-going struggle. At some point, yes you should learn to work in both platforms! I have found it necessary to verify for usage on both. However you still use mostly what is in your comfort zone. You quickly learn to choose fonts and sizes that work well on both.

You quickly learn to design your fields and text labels a little wider and perhaps slightly taller than default for the fonts. Then everything works just fine on either platform. Checking what step behavior might be different can be done with the use of the Help topics and the script compatibility checker. Usage of plugins may be a factor in what works. And other things slightly different can be checked. They just need a real verification at some point There are some 3rd party plug-ins that have additional functionality when compared to their Windows version, that can be very useful, particularly when working on complicated systems.

The advantage of Macs being able to run 2 copies of the same version Pro and Pro Advanced has disappeared since Pro is no longer available with v17, but previously it was a big bonus to us. We run a mixture of Macs and Windows PCs here, mostly all development is made using virtual servers within Windows, but Mac hardware is our preference. Go with whatever you’re comfortable with seems like an echo For me, I a. I work for a company that is a vast majority Mac shop though, so I do run into the occasional issue where something works great on my machine but needs adjusted for the Macs, so that is something you have to account for if you’re doing work for a company on the opposite platform.

I also have a co-worker who uses Windows as a virtualized second OS on his MacBook, so that can be done as well and there are some advantages to that too. The great thing with FileMaker is it runs great on both. That doesn’t necessarily make your choice easier, but it does give you the assurance that you’re not going to make a bad one as far as the platform goes. As many have stated, Do your primary development on what you are comfortable with.

That stated about the time I became a full time FileMaker developer I needed a new computer. I wanted a take it with me high performance system. So my purchase ended up as a 17″ Mac Book Pro. They say converts are the worst at keeping an open mind. Well once I went Mac I never wanted to go back.

Many of my clients use PCs. I have found that there are subtle differences in the display of information between PCs and Macs. Well actually across all platforms. So I found it best to test on the clients intended platform. With that in mind, my main development computer is a current Mac Book Pro. It has Parallels installed with Windows as a system.

I frequently run both at the same time so I can edit layouts on the Mac and see the results on the Windows system and occasionally have it displaying a WebDirect version at the same time. One layout, 3 platforms. A nice feature about the Mac Book Pro in the office is the ability to have 3 monitors on it. Keep having to remember which key to hold down for layout mode. I will depart from the chorus of “whatever YOU’RE comfortable with” and advocate that you find out what kinds of machines your potential clients will be using, then go with those.

I myself much prefer Macs, and that’s all I have for my own use, but it does lead to irritations when I try to deploy my creations on the Windows machines that some of my clients favor, the poor darlin’s. I had hard drive crashes on macs just as I have on Windows. I had a video card issue with my old MacBook Pro that Apple would not fix.

Both platforms have their issues, but as other stated use the platform you prefer. I had some issues with parallels recently parallels 13 with latest version of Window 10 , but it difficult to change to a different VM. Parallels just release version 14 and it seems to fix some of the issues. You don’t have problems running Windows in a VM on a Mac? The Mac have a retina display with a very high resolution, and Windows icons, text are very small. Curious to know.

I only use a Mac for development. All the tools and utilities I have on the Mac that support development and the measurable productivity increase I have over working in Windows. Spotlight is totally awesome, for example. Fortune companies for which I’ve worked have started giving developers a choice: iMac or Windows workstation. Care to guess what which almost every one of them picks? I’ve never had a crash, or any system problem in 10 years of using Macs after my long relationship with Windows came to a screeching halt after “Vista” and the PC company’s refusal to let me re-install XP on that machine after the awful Vista experience I had — the BIOS was hard-coded not to allow downgrading.

Never again. I wasn’t including a hard drive going bad with possible problems. In my case, however, when my iMac’s hard-drive did go bad, the Apple store fixed it in three days.

Good point, the OP should also consider hardware support. Again, I would only use a Mac for this reason too.

I also have used VM Fusion, but not sure if it’s still supported. No issues. Parrallels has a straight purchase or a subscription. I have the subscription, which I had a for few years, it’s like everything else it’s cheaper to have a subscription than to pay upgrade price every year.

Each new OS version requires an update. Nope, Windows works great in a VM. Been doing that also for years. Very fast. Never a hick-up. Keep windows around for OS testing and for a couple apps that are either not on the Mac or, in one other case, not as well done on the mac.

However, using a VM window on the Mac is fine also. Since Windows isn’t my primary platform and I only use it rarely, I just use the separate monitor and am totally happy with the resolution. Now trying to run applications in Codeweaver’s Crossover was a completely different story, a total disaster. But you got me thinking of a different approach below and it worked!

Thank you!! Success all around! Thank you. I was trying to open my old FMP14 files by directly double-clicking on them. Then I went back to the FMP14 file on my desktop, and double clicked on it.

You won’t get any of the new functionality etc. There is a glitch with FM16 under high sierra: Export dialogs won’t show the buttons, just resize that dialogs and they will show. No problem at all. Positive is that you will get all new functionality that comes along with FMP V15 and If a company has a CI that is related to some fonts It seems to work well with test version of Filemaker Sadly I have to buy an update for SEK to continue using my customer database and billing system.

Dopo avere determinato la causa, eseguire il programma di installazione per ottenere una nuova versione dell’applicazione. Here are links to the Mac App Store where the latest version can be found:. Adobe Apps Adobe suggests that any Creative Cloud versions of its apps be updated to the latest version this is generally a good practice anytime updates are available. Illustrator suffers from multiple issues, one of which can cause installation and application launch failures; others have workarounds.

InDesign suffers from cursor corruption issues, which may vary in frequency or severity depending on hardware. Photoshop has an issue related to Full Screen usage but Adobe has already supplied a file that can be downloaded and installed to fix it. For CS6 and earlier versions of the suite, the best information we have is that they are not officially supported with They may install and work properly or they may not, but in any case no updates are likely to be provided.

Note also that Microsoft will no longer support Office after October 10, , so if you would like to continue using an officially supported version, your only option will be to upgrade to Office version As noted earlier, please let us know if you run into any compatibility issues with your favorite Mac apps by leaving a comment below.

In addition, if you hear about a new version of any of the apps listed here that resolves High Sierra compatibility issues, please comment as well.
