As in the animated series, each turtle in the game has its own unique moves and weapons. Before you set out for the action, you will have the opportunity to choose your hero. What characterizes this version of the game is its comic anime graphic style. All characters in the game are very nicely animated, with unique blows and fighting styles.<\/p>\n

The Turtles jump through time to fight Shredder and his army of henchman one clobbering at a time. The game was released on arcade systems and the SNES as a direct sequel to the previous side-scrolling classic. Although a remake was available on the Xbox and PlayStation 3 stores, it has since been delisted.<\/p>\n

Fans looking for the original experience should look to find a copy on a cartridge. An often-overlooked entry in the Turtle’s saga, this Sega Genesis exclusive was released in , shortly after Turtles in Time, from which it borrows many of its gameplay elements.<\/p>\n

After Shredder shrinks Manhattan using the power of the Hyperstone, the Turtles have to jump back into action to stop their foe and save their city. Although often called a clone of Turtles in Time , this game still manages to pack in a lot of fun side-scrolling combat into the story and build off the strengths of previous entries.<\/p>\n

Only released on the Genesis, fans might have luck finding a physical copy online or at used game stores. Originally released by Konami for the first Game Boy in 1 , this platformer action game is reminiscent of the company’s own Castlevania series. Each turtle has their own unique move set, making it one of the more offbeat early games of the franchise. Many familiar villains return as bosses in this hidden handheld gem that helped branch the Turtles out of arcade territory.<\/p>\n

Fans can try to find a copy on the Game Boy. The boom of fighting games in the early ’90s was inescapable and the Turtles were not resistant to jumping to different genres. In story mode, players control the turtles as they make their way through a total of six stages, each containing several levels or “Areas”.<\/p>\n

In each level, the player will have to control a turtle of their choosing as they navigate from one end of the level to the next. While the levels themselves are essentially the same for all four turtles, certain bosses are made available to be beaten by a particular turtle, with Casey Jones being exclusive to Raph, Master Splinter being exclusive to Leo, Baxter Stockman being exclusive to Don, and Hun being exclusive to Mikey.<\/p>\n

Shortly after completing a training session one night, the turtles find their lair under attack by Baxter Stockman’s Mouser Robots. During the attack, the mousers cause the ceiling to collapse, which separates the turtles from Master Splinter. Calling Splinter using a shell cell, the turtles soon arrange to meet with their master at the old drainage junction near South Point.<\/p>\n

Afterwards, the turtles briefly make their way through the sewers, where they’re attacked by more Mousers. Later, after reaching a dead end, the four soon head to the surface. There, they’re attacked by not only Mousers, but also thugs of the Purple Dragon gang. After some time traversing the streets, the turtles come across Casey Jones relentlessly pummeling some Purple Dragons. Raph, recognizing Casey’s anger, then proceeds to fight the hockey mask-wearing vigilante, knocking some sense into him.<\/p>\n

After learning about Casey’s past with the Purple Dragons, the turtles then team up with him to take down Dragonface. In beating them, Casey soon comes to acknowledge the turtles as his allies. Shortly after parting ways with Casey, the turtles encounter the Foot Clan. As they make their way across the rooftops, the turtles take down all the Foot Ninja standing in their way until they reach the Stocktronics building.<\/p>\n

This robot also fails to destroy the turtles, who then rescue April. Afterwards, they meet up with Master Splinter, who then leads them to a mysterious chamber, which they all soon come to use as a new lair. When a rash of robberies breaks out in the city, April O’Neil calls the turtles over to her place so they can not only have a sleepover, but also protect her antique shop from being robbed.<\/p>\n

That night, small-time con artist and thief Harry “The Schlub” Parker and his new son “Nano” break into April’s store to rob it, with Nano taking a set of masks that he soon uses to express himself. The robbery goes south, however, when Casey Jones shows up to stop them. The collection will also have the usual quality-of-life improvements, like save functionality, and the ability to rewind especially useful for the NES TMNT platformer, which is notoriously tough.<\/p>\n

Buttons can be remapped, and there’s a range of supplementary content like development art, and “historic TMNT media content”. I’m pretty keen to jump into some old TMNT.<\/p>\n
