Seems unlikely but I’ll try again with another stick. It’s a usb flash drive and it was nothing wrong with it. I tried another one with the same result.<\/p>\n

\nI’m trying to do a clean install of Windows 10 from a usb drive. Problem: The system boots up and presents the first Windows setup screen. Update the BIOS or UEFI firmware to latest, or reset to Defaults, making sure SATA controller is set to AHCI, UEFI is enabled, CSM or Legacy. 2. Remove overclock settings. 3. Attach your hard drive to a different SATA port. 4. Make sure that you’re installing the correct version.<\/p>\n

I have an XPS 15 Lx laptop. Started with Windows 8. Did the free upgrade online to Windows Notices after a few weeks that Windows Updates were failing, and could not update any device drivers. Tried everything, including working with a Microsoft tech, and they couldn’t fix it, recommended a reinstall. Select the primary partition that the current OS is on. It says it will rename that OS folder and create a new one. Everything goes normal with the install for awhile.<\/p>\n

After updating device drivers, it goes to a black screen with the Dell logo and says “Getting ready”. The dotted circle thing spins for several minutes. Then the spinning stops. Then nothing. Have done this multiple times, and it always hangs at this same spot. Have left it run over night and it never comes back. Any ideas on how to get past this?
