When running Adobe Reader Yet is Outlook is setup as the default mail client. Have visited the Adobe site and they seem to point to a MS error. If you look at the error message – it does look like a MS error message. Anyone have a fix? Thanks — Ken. Does Adobe Acrobat Reader claim to be Office 64 bit compatible? A lot of third party software isn’t, which is why MS recommends using 32bit Office unless you need the huge file sizes availble with 64bit.<\/p>\n

Was this reply helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn’t help. Thanks for your feedback. Either there is no default mail client or the current mail client cannot fulfill the messaging request. Please run Microsoft Outlook and set it as the default mail client. Upon further investigation, I believe you are correct in stated that the latest version of Adobe reader are not compatible with bit office which is why the message may be occurring. I am not going to uninstall the bit version since I am happy with it so I guess I will just live with the annoying message.<\/p>\n

Went to the Adobe site to see if they have a fix and they do not. Word to the wise for others — if you have bit Office, you may also receive this goofy message. Problems are going to occur with any 3rd party addin not written for 64bit along with any 32 bit stand-alone programs trying to interact with Outlook which is why the recommended bit level for MSO is still 32bit.<\/p>\n

As we don’t use the Adobe email feature then just use any other mail account as the default, this workaround gets rid of the message. That worked for me at least partly. I am getting the same issue on both windows 7 64bit and windows 8. Emailing direct from reader using outlook is an essential practice in our work and it is becoming a real bind to be in my position I championed moving to office and exchange online.<\/p>\n

That is my 2 cents anyway. Thanks again. Word to the wise for others — if you have bit Office The Bitness registry key 64 bit string fix doesn’t work for me. Simple fix. Keith R. I found a fix! Outlook has 15 default file types. If you disable just one of them, “Send mail Send mail command. Diane, That worked for me at least partly. In reply to Jonathan D Brown’s post on September 6, You’ll get the error because Reader wasn’t designed to work with your version and bitness of Outlook. Not sure if I need to post a new question as this is not an answer It is not an error specifically to 64bit version of office. It is since I moved from office to 32 bit. This is probably no help, but to propose this is not restricted to 32 bit office software.<\/p>\n
